The menu is a reflection of the restaurant’s commitment to serving high-quality, authentic Portuguese food. Whether you’re in the mood for seafood, meats, or something lighter, there’s something to satisfy every palate. One of the standout dishes is the bacalhau à brás, a traditional Portuguese dish made with shredded codfish, onions, and potatoes, all tossed together in a rich, flavorful sauce. It’s a perfect example of how the restaurant celebrates Portuguese culinary traditions while offering a delightful twist.

For those who prefer seafood, you can’t go wrong with the fresh grilled sardines, a local favorite. Served with a side of crispy potatoes and a refreshing salad, the dish captures the essence of Portugal’s coastal cuisine. Another favorite is the octopus, tender and perfectly cooked, which pairs wonderfully with the house-made olive oil and garlic sauce.

Tasca Do Jaime D'alfama also prides itself on offering a selection of delicious Portuguese wines. • Didn’t order any food but walked by when they had a life band and stopped in for a drink. You can only just drink at the bar but boy was it worth it. The singer had the most amazing voice I’ve ever heard. Plus drinks were super cheap!

  • Loved the place!! Owner’s wife was very attentive to all her guests and the fado singing was the highlight of our night. The food tasted amazing (chorizo and pork loin) and the sangria was nice too. The restaurant owner also sang which was a nice surprise. Loved the place and would highly recommend.

  • We came here for dinner and left so happy. The fado was absolutely lovely, with three singers (2 male, 1 female) alternating every other song. The atmosphere was very cozy, with everyone listening intently to the singers while we ate. The food was also lovely and very traditional. Highly recommend!

  • Magical experience. We felt as if in a movie. Absolutely delicious food and amazing music. It doesn’t get better and more traditional than this.

  • I know this is not a food review but a human review. I wanna tell a story about how human people from Alfama are. Last week on dec 6th at night I have been left crying on the street by a japanese guy, just in front of this restaurant. The owner, I think, immediately came after looking if I was good and need something. Even if I was under shock, I will never forget this gesture of kindness in a moment where i only saw mean behaviour. So this is not a normal review, but I am really grateful to him and to people from Alfama.

  • I've been to Tasca do Jaime twice now and both times have been pure magic. I was introduced to the place by a local, then I returned with my partner three years later and it couldn't feel more authentic. Laura and Jaime make you feel so at home. Jaime sings a few sets in between serving and managing the restaurant. Laura makes you feel as if you've entered their home and she is the most gracious host. They both keep a watchful eye over their guests making sure every need is met. The place is tiny and you show respect to the performers by not talking over the performances. The robalo (seabass) is perfectly cooked and presented beautifully and you cannot leave without ordering the chocolates cake. Make reservations or get there early. The performances are real and a little gritty and low ceilings and tight quarters carry the the strong booming voices into the street where people stop to listen. If you are looking for a truly authentic Portuguese evening with traditional food and lovely people, this place is must be added to your Lisbon bucket list.

  • It was a lovely nice with good fish dishes and wine close by rice pudding. The Fado singers were great and created melancholic ambiance, alternating with happy one.
